Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what data is collected when you visit book.mosul-eye.org, the official website for the book Mosul Eye: A Scholar's Clandestine War Against ISIS by Omar Mohammed (Skyhorse Publishing, 21 July 2026). The site is a static promotional website. We do not run user accounts, comments, paywalls, or back-end services on this domain.
What we don't do
- We do not use Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or any other analytics or behavioural-tracking service.
- We do not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- We do not embed YouTube videos, Twitter/X widgets, Instagram embeds, or other third-party iframes that would profile you.
- We do not sell, share, or rent any visitor data to anyone.
What we do
Server access logs
Our static-site hosting provider (Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, or equivalent) records standard web-server access logs: the visitor's IP address, the page requested, the user-agent string, and a timestamp. These logs are retained for a short period (typically 7–30 days, depending on the provider) and are used only to diagnose downtime or abuse. We do not correlate them with any other identifier.
Self-hosted assets
Fonts, images, retailer logos, and JavaScript on this site are served from book.mosul-eye.org itself. They do not leak your IP, browsing history, or referrer to any third party.
Local browser storage
The site uses sessionStorage (cleared when you close the tab) to remember whether the homepage's animated headline has finished playing during your visit. Nothing is written to localStorage or to long-term cookies.
Outbound links
The site links to external destinations: book retailers (Amazon, Bookshop.org, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Walmart, Goodreads), press articles, the author's social profiles, and academic institutions. When you click an outbound link, your browser will load the destination according to their privacy policies, which are independent of this site.
Amazon affiliate disclosure
Pre-order links to Amazon use the affiliate tag skyhorsepub-20, which means Skyhorse Publishing (the book's publisher) may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. The author does not personally receive affiliate revenue from these links.
Contact form
The contact form composes an email in your default mail client and addresses it to info@mosul-eye.org. The site itself does not transmit, store, or read the message; only your email client and our inbox provider do. If you submit a message, we will use it only to reply to you. We will not add you to any mailing list.
Cookies
This site does not set any cookies for tracking, analytics, or advertising. Your hosting provider may set a load-balancing cookie for technical reasons; this cookie does not identify you and is not used for marketing.
Your rights (EU/EEA, UK, California)
Because we do not collect personal information beyond ephemeral server logs, there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete. If you have a concern, write to info@mosul-eye.org and we will respond.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Substantive changes will be summarised in an update notice on the homepage for 30 days.
