Privacy Policy
This privacy policy explains what data is collected when you visit book.mosul-eye.org, the official website for the book Mosul Eye: A Scholar's Clandestine War Against ISIS by Omar Mohammed (Skyhorse Publishing, 21 July 2026). The site is a static promotional website. We do not run user accounts, comments, paywalls, or back-end services on this domain.
What we don't do
- We do not use Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Mixpanel, Segment, or any session-recording or behavioural-profiling service. The only third-party tag on this site is the Google Ads conversion tag described below.
- We do not embed YouTube videos, Twitter/X widgets, Instagram embeds, or other third-party iframes that would profile you.
- We do not sell, share, or rent any visitor data to anyone.
What we do
Google Ads conversion measurement
Every page includes the Google tag (gtag.js, account AW-16679273193), loaded from googletagmanager.com. We use it for one purpose: to measure whether visits and book purchases result from our Google Ads campaigns. Google may set advertising cookies for this measurement and processes the data under the Google Privacy Policy.
If you are in the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland: the tag runs in Google Consent Mode with all storage set to denied. No advertising or analytics cookies are set for you, and no personal identifiers are sent; Google receives only cookieless, aggregate pings. Elsewhere, you can opt out of personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com or optout.aboutads.info.
Server access logs
Our static-site hosting provider (Netlify, Cloudflare Pages, or equivalent) records standard web-server access logs: the visitor's IP address, the page requested, the user-agent string, and a timestamp. These logs are retained for a short period (typically 7–30 days, depending on the provider) and are used only to diagnose downtime or abuse. We do not correlate them with any other identifier.
Self-hosted assets
Fonts, images, retailer logos, and our own JavaScript are served from book.mosul-eye.org itself and do not leak your IP, browsing history, or referrer to any third party. The one exception is the Google tag described above, which loads from Google's servers.
Local browser storage
The site uses sessionStorage (cleared when you close the tab) to remember whether the homepage's animated headline has finished playing during your visit. Nothing is written to localStorage or to long-term cookies.
Outbound links
The site links to external destinations: book retailers (Amazon, Bookshop.org, Barnes & Noble, Apple Books, Walmart, Goodreads), press articles, the author's social profiles, and academic institutions. When you click an outbound link, your browser will load the destination according to their privacy policies, which are independent of this site.
Amazon affiliate disclosure
Purchase links to Amazon use the affiliate tag skyhorsepub-20, which means Skyhorse Publishing (the book's publisher) may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. The author does not personally receive affiliate revenue from these links.
Contact form
The contact form does not send anything from the site and involves no third-party form service. It composes an email in your own mail app, addressed to book@mosul-eye.org, with what you entered pre-filled — nothing is transmitted or stored until you press send in your mail app. We use your message only to reply to you and will not add you to any mailing list.
Cookies
The only cookies this site can set are Google's advertising-measurement cookies described above — and in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland even those are disabled by default. We set no other cookies. Your hosting provider may set a load-balancing cookie for technical reasons; this cookie does not identify you and is not used for marketing.
Your rights (EU/EEA, UK, California)
Beyond ephemeral server logs and the aggregate ad measurement described above, we do not hold personal information about visitors, so there is generally nothing to access, correct, or delete on our side. For data Google processes, use the Google privacy controls linked above. If you have a concern, write to book@mosul-eye.org and we will respond.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we materially change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. Substantive changes will be summarised in an update notice on the homepage for 30 days.
